4400A/4500A

Installation Notes

Version 20081112 - Released 11/12/2008

The latest software for the Boonton 4400A/4500A is now available. Use Winzip to unzip the files into a working directory, such as c:\temp, with no other files present. You cannot make a 4400A/4500A boot disk by copying files onto a blank disk. You must use the following procedure:

  1. To make a 4400A/4500A boot floppy disk, insert a blank 1.44M disk into your floppy drive, and type MAKEBOOT A: (or B:). The disk will be formatted and verified as the copy is being performed. When complete, open the write protect tab on the disk, and label the floppy disk.
  2. To load the new software, insert the disk into the floppy drive on the instrument and turn power on. The load takes up to 5 minutes depending upon hardware configuration. During this time a progress report will be displayed on the CRT. Floppy disk activity will be intermittent during this interval.
  3. When installation is complete, the instrument will restart with the new software. After the instrument has restarted and the blue banner screen appears, remove the floppy disk and keep it in a safe place.
